Bullying can take many forms—physical aggression, verbal harassment, exclusion, gossip, or social manipulation.
No matter the form it takes, bullying can deeply affect an adolescent’s mental and emotional health, leading to anxiety, depression, and in some cases, suicidal thoughts. With the rise of technology, many teens are also exposed to cyberbullying, which can feel relentless and inescapable.
At the Bay Area Center for Adolescents, we support teens who have been impacted by bullying—both as victims and as those engaging in bullying behavior.
For victims, we help build assertiveness skills, work with schools when appropriate, and support parents in responding in ways that foster resilience and healing.
For adolescents who have bullied others, we focus on developing empathy, improving emotional regulation, and addressing the underlying issues—such as insecurity, peer pressure, or past trauma—that may be driving their behavior.
Our goal is to help all teens build healthier relationships, a stronger sense of self, and a more positive path forward.
